The English countryside holds so much appeal for me. The patchwork of fields, outlined by trees, punctuated by houses and farms are special to me in a way that I find impossible to articulate. Is it the romantic aspect of the miniature scene that appears to be assembled by Capability Brown, so neat and tidy? Not only do I enjoy looking from a vantage point like this painting shows, but I also sing as I drive the small country roads that twist through farmlands and villages. I hate to think of the time when I will not be able to rent a car and head out to burrow into the scenery.
