Bruges Canal

Painting Description

Bruges is among the prettiest of medieval towns that I know of in Europe. Sometimes compared to Venice, because of the canals, this town is more sober, befitting its Flemish character. Time has mellowed the colours of the architecture making them obvious subjects for artists who can often be seen, regardless of weather, painting along the waterways. I prefer to paint this town from the comfort of my studio where I can manipulate the subject to conform to the dreamlike memories that I carry home.
