Baby Sitters

Painting Description

In the conservative Mennonite and Amish groups, the older siblings carry out much of the child minding. I find it curious that I see very little friction between the older and younger kids. These young girls seem not to mind in the least “schlepping” their younger sisters along to go skating. The traditional rural approach to family is one that seems built on common sense and real concern.
