I was approached by the owner of this outstanding quarter horse stud as this well known animal reached his last days. A time was arranged for me to visit at the farm to see and photograph this animal. Because of a neck-breaking accident that happened to this horse when he was young, Show Tip always held his head at a peculiar angle. It was very important to the owner of this legendary animal that I show that characteristic head tilt. Each person who commissions a painting has special ideas to incorporate and I am interested to do just that.
Painted for a Dutch merchant banker of his country property in Canada, this painting now hangs in an estate in Holland and represents their generational portrait. We had great fun together as we developed this portrait. Their daughter said of the painting, Its so Mommy and Daddy. I felt that I had hit the mark.
